Every climb has a prize

A poem about finding balance in striving

We are constantly seeking peak experiences

One peak to be higher than the next peak

We push to reach our full potential

To be constantly pushing our frontier

We fall sick, sometimes from exhaustion

And wonder how we can pull back

Should I climb smaller mountains?

Pace myself?

So that I have longer stretches of climb?

Or should I continue to push my limits?

Build bigger muscles?

With periods of forced recovery in between?

Which is better? Distance runner or muscle builder?

Which makes me happier?

Only I can decide what trade-offs to make

The only mistake is to expect we can train ourselves to become invincible

Every climb has a price to pay
