My Story
I grew up in Hong Kong and Singapore – in cultures that are very much achievement oriented. This is what I wrote down as my dream for the future in my high school year book:
“To have a career of my own interest and live a comfortable life.”
I have always been focused on pursuing a career I love – I believed it gives me my identity and a purpose in life. For the past 10 years, my life purpose has been to create a world where people are happy and fulfilled at work. I didn’t understand why so many of us feel like cogs in a machine at work.
Why don’t we feel like full human beings full of creativity, vulnerabilities and dreams?
How can we spend 80% of our waking hours feeling like robots programmed to achieve productivity and profitability?
Why are we constantly expected to outperform other human beings, living in constant fear of falling behind?
In pursuit of my purpose, I transitioned from management consulting to organizational culture consulting. I worked for Fortune 100 companies that are known to be Fortune’s Best Places to Work - workplaces that are known for their great missions and cultures.
The jobs were good, probably better than a large majority of other jobs, but what I also found was the same inhuman-ness. So I left the corporate world, and asked myself what my gifts are, and how I can apply them to my purpose.
"All the gifts you are carrying in your life are for others. Everyone who comes to you offer them your gifts." ~ Sri Sri Shankar.
Listening intently and asking insightful questions are my areas of strength. Through self-inquiry, I realize the key to creating happier workplaces actually begins with us realizing our self-worth. When we know our worth, we live from a place of abundance and peace, which allows us to be joyful and compassionate regardless of life circumstances.
My corporate experience allows me to understand the challenges professional women face in the workplace, and my upbringing gives me the emotional sensitivities to understand the consistent pressure to achieve more.
As a community co-creator, my goal is to help women transform themselves – empowering one woman at a time.
Together, we can help ourselves be more loving and joyful.
In turn, we help create a world that is more loving and joyful.
